About

URA is located in Brussels and is characterized by a broad spectrum of projects, varied both in scale and function. 'UR'-the name of the first city- supports a way of working. URA searches for universal, basic typologies and transforms them into a contemporary and precise identity in a specific context. The universal lies within the very specific. URA is led by two partners, Yves Malysse and Kiki Verbeeck.

YVES MALYSSE (°1973) [email protected]

graduated from the Sint-Lucas Institute of Architecture in Ghent. He has worked with MVRDV in Rotterdam and Jo Crepain in Antwerp, and with stage designer Bart Clement. Sport Vlanderen
Woumen (B), 2013–2016
940 m²

In the middle of an idyllic Polder-landscape, a new volume is introduced. A solid concrete monolith with saddle roofs gives space and comfort to the visitors having their lunch or break while staying on the site for a horse-camp. A continuation of the typical shed structures allows the building to dissapear in the rural landscape, while it opens up from the inside and creates a central hard square and a soft sandy square offers divers possibilities for the visitors. Square windows frame the landscape from the interior of the building.
The plot is completed by introducing a sanitary unit which together with a slim steel roof functions as an entrance to the multipurpose hall.
